The 100th Day of First Grade

Today marked the '100th Day of First Grade' in our classroom!

However we kind of stretched out the big event from Monday to Friday this entire week of school.

As students entered the classroom the message was clear...
We kicked off the event with some super fun 100th day activities.

We made froot loop necklaces using 100 froot loops.
First you have to count out 100 froot loops.
Desirae is stringing her froot loops onto her necklace.
Paxton was the first to finish his froot loop necklace.

Then we made trail mix with 100 snack items.
Delaney and Luke counting out their 100 snack items.
Kali with her finished sack of 100 snack items.

Finally we made 100's day crowns!

Here is a video of all the fun we had...

Toward the end of the day, each student designed a 'foot' and walked 100 steps in the hallway. After the 100th step the student stopped and taped the foot to the wall. It was interesting to walk the halls of the school and observe the different stopping places.
At the beginning of the week we set a goal to READ over 100 books together as a class. Every time someone read a book (at home or at school) we created a new link in our chain. For every ten books read we taped the chain up to the counter so we could easily keep track of how many more books we needed to read. Today we met our goal... we are at 107 books and counting!

We also set a goal to WRITE 100 words. Each student contributed at least five words to the collection and each student was given a category to ensure there would be no duplicate words on the list.
We also made 100th day 'Designs'!

Clara turned her 100 into a barbell...
Marissa turned her 100 into a pretzel...
Mark turned his 100 into a skating penguin...
The students also wrote about what they would buy if they had $100.00...
Delaney wants a new dog!
Sam wants a lot of pencils to write stories at school!
Dane wants a new pair of clothes to wear to school!

Lastly, the students drew what they would look like when they turned 100 years old.
Above is Rayna's picture of herself when she is 100 years old!
Above is Kaden's picture of himself when he is 100 years old.

Above is Katelynn's picture of herself when she is 100 years old.

Above is Luke's picture of himself when he is 100 years old.

What a wonderful way to spend the 100th day of school!
