We LOVE the GRUFFALO!

We have been studying the author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. Check out the website at www.gruffalo.com.

The website has fun games for children, lists all of Julia's amazing book titles, and even has a page to meet the book characters. I encourage you to browse the website and think about checking out her books from the library to enjoy at home as a family.

I think the reason children love to read Julia Donaldson's books so much is because she writes stories that provide vivid imagery, fun rhyme patterns, and interesting characters. Our favorite character is THE GRUFFALO!

Below are a few sample student illustrations of this creature with terrible tusks, knobbly knees, and turned out toes!

Clayton was sure to add the poisonous wart on the end of his Gruffalo's nose.
Check out the knobbly knees on Koran's Gruffalo.
Jonathon made hideous horns on his Gruffalo.
Stella gave her Gruffalo a set of terrible teeth.
Thomas's Gruffalo has wirey whiskers.
Look at the purple prickles all over the back of Jada's Gruffalo.
Elisabeth Grace's Gruffalo sure has a big black tongue.
LOOK OUT!!!
OH NO!!!
IT'S A GRUFFALO!!!
