Kahurangi Fieldtrip

We had our first fieldtrip of the year. We went to see the Kahurangi Maori dancers of New Zealand (brought to Anchorage by Alaska Junior Theatre) at the Perfoming Arts Center.
The Anchorage Daily News raved about the performance stating that "Kahurangi Maori dancers are a dynamic company like no other. With extraordinary vitality, strength and passion they bring to life the rich and beautiful cultural celebrations and customs unique to the islanders of the South Pacific."

Regardless of how the Anchorage Daily News raved about the performance, most of the students were just REALLY EXCITED TO RIDE ON THE BUS!!!

The students are smiling because we are about to get on the bus!

This is our class lining up outside the Performing Arts Center.

Below are a few journal entries that the kids wrote after we returned to school from the fun fieldtrip.

Bristol enjoyed when the dancers twirled their pom poms.

Xander liked when the dancers used their spear implements.

Derik liked when all of the dancers did the white stick implement dance.

Overall, it was a great fieldtrip and the kids had a ton of fun! Thanks Alaska Junior Theatre!
